Soup Can Candle Holder
I love canned goods, but I do not like the fact that I have to throw the cans in the trash. I hold the can in my hand and say "What can I use you for?" Well I have come up with lots of ways to utilize these, but this idea I found online is one is my favorites.
Remove the label from your soup can and wash the inside and outside very well. Fill the can with small rocks or sand and then fill with water. Place it in the freezer for a few hours or until the water is frozen solid. This is going to help with the next step.
Choose a design that you want on your candle holder. Simple shapes are best because then it just looks like a whole bunch of random dots if the shape is complex.
Now with a pencil, you can trace on your design. After you have the basic shape traced onto your can, you can use a hammer and nail to punch holes into your shape. The frozen ice will keep the can from bending and make it really easy to punch out your shape.
When you are finished punching the holes, you can wait for the ice to thaw or use hot water to melt it out. Now you can paint the can any way you like. Place a tea light on the inside and watch the the shapes dance on the wall at night. The kids really like these! Enjoy!
